Message

Prof. K. Samatha has completed her Ph.D. in Physics from the esteemed Andhra University. She has a commendable track record in the field of higher education as an academic and academic administrator.

She started her career as a teaching assistant in 1986 and upgraded to lecturer in 1990. Her passion for academics and commitment to profession over the period of time stands testimonial to her holistic development. Her journey of life and hard work inspires many for she is the only woman faculty in the department hailing from a marginalised community ever since the inception of the Physics Department.

Prof. K. Samatha

Prof. K. Samatha is a renowned academician, researcher and author with 35 years of experience. She has published 127 research papers in reputed International and National Journals. She is an author f or a book on  Statistical Mechanics. She submitted her PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. J. Sri Rama Murthy. She has successfully guided 40 research scholars for Ph.D. and 10 for M.Phil. degrees. Many more are currently doing research under her supervision. She is a specialist in the area of  “ULTRASONICS & SOLID STATE PHYSICS” and has been doing extensive research. She is actively involved in teaching Statistical Mechanics, Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, and Quantum Mechanics. Most of her students are well-placed in India as well as abroad.

She has successfully completed two minor research projects, conducted two seminars, attended nearly 40 seminars and workshops conducted by various universities and research agencies. She has the privilege of being the M.Phil. & Ph.D. theses adjudicator for various state and central universities. She is a life member of “Journal of Acoustical Society of India”.

As a SAP coordinator she established Material Science Research Laboratory funded by UGC SAP CAS phase – II programme worth 1.35 crores. She served as the Chairperson for PG board of studies of the Department of Physics, A.U. for three years and also as chairperson and member for various universities. She served as a member for  “Women Grievance Cell” at Andhra University and resolved many issues amicably.

She was awarded the most coveted  “Best Thesis”  in 1997 and  Best Academician in 2018.
